Event Description
We're offering another weekend dedicated to our love for Mahjong. Mahj in the City will lead beginner and advanced classes to accommodate all levels of game play in engaging sessions for every generation of player. Learn to improve your skills in American Mahjong and honor the game’s cultural tradition of strategically laying tiles alongside conversation and laughter with friends.
Event tuition is $200 and includes all event activities. Event tuition is sold per person and separately from room. Select meals may be available for inclusion in room rate when booking a package with the event. Taxes and a 20% service charge will be added on.

Mahj in the City, co-founded by best friends Ashley Sigmon and Leigh Young in Charlotte, North Carolina, teaches Mah Jongg with heart, humor and deep respect—for the game, its Chinese roots and the connections it creates. What began as two friends catching the “Mahj bug” has grown into a vibrant community where thousands have learned to play.
From beginner classes and advanced workshops to open play and their signature Bambird Scramble league expanding across cities, Mahj in the City makes learning joyful and connection easy.
