The Best of Spring: Local Recommendations For Your High Hampton Getaway

HH Summer Menu2023 print 77

From beautiful hikes to must-try drinks, High Hampton's Events and Groups Manager, Leigh Ann Pezick, shares her favorite Spring recommendations to make the most of your getaway to High Hampton.

What are your go-to Spring activities?

Leigh Ann: I love hiking around Cashiers in the Springtime, especially when we start to get hints of local flora coming alive in the late March and early April timeframe. One of my favorite Spring hikes is the Yellow Mountain Firetower in Cashiers. I love that you can access this hike from two points – one point is a 13-mile hike beginning in Highlands and hiking up to the Firetower in Cashiers. You can also access this hike directly in Cashiers and condense it into a 2-mile hike. The view from the top is unobstructed and you can see for miles! There are azaleas and rhododendron that line the path all the way up the trail, and it is unreal to see them blooming in the Spring.

If we are really in a relaxation mode, but want to spend time outside we love to go to Silver Run Falls. It is only a ½ mile trail, and leads to a small waterfall and swimming area. There are some daffodils along the trail, and in the spring, it really starts to perk up. I love to bring a bottle of wine and some snacks down here, and put our feet in the water and bask in the sun.

Any recommendations around town?

Leigh Ann: After a hike we love to head to Whiteside Brewery in Cashiers and get a table outside. They brew their own beers and have a huge variety of brews! They start to do live music on the weekends in spring time, and there is nothing better than sitting in the sun after a hike at Whiteside.

In April, the Cashier’s Farmers Market opens back up for the season. They have some delicious local goodies, fresh produce, and local floral arrangements. It is so fun to peruse the Farmer’s Market and pick out a few local goodies. I go in for produce and come out with my new favorite candle made from a local potter.

Where is your favorite place to enjoy Spring on-property? And what's your go-to drink recommendation?

Leigh Ann: The Tavern at High Hampton is literal perfection in the spring time. Our patio gets direct sunlight for the majority of the day, and overlooks Rock Mountain. I love that you can sit and see how winter is starting to fade, and everything comes to life. It is still brisk enough to have the firepits on, which I love! Our team’s seasonal Springtime cocktails are incredible– the Seasonal G&T is divine!
